Topher Olsen
Upper School Theatre Teacher

Mr. Olsen holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from Texas Tech University, a Master of Fine Arts Degree from The University of Texas, Austin, and a teaching certificate from The University of Texas, Permian Basin. Chairman of the Drama Department, Mr. Olsen teaches Upper School theatre classes and directs two productions annually. Production credits at Haverford include, The Miser, The Wise Men of Chelm, Rehearsal for Murder, The Boys Next Door, The Odyssey, How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying, Amadeus and most recently, in collaboration with Tom Stambaugh (Eng. Dept.) Much Ado About Nothing.

Last year, The Haveford School Drama Department was recognized as the state's top theatre program. In recognition of this honor, Haverford students will travel to Edinburgh, Scotland to participate in the International Fringe Festival. In addition, in 2001 and 2003, the Haverford School Drama Department received second place finishes at the West Chester University Theatre Festival.

Mr. Olsen is a member of the American Alliance of Theatre and Education and is a former member of the Southwest Theatre Association who awarded him the Children's Theatre Arts Advocate Award in 1997.


Lori Reed
Middle School Drama Teacher

Lori Reed has been a teacher, director, playwright and performer for the last 18 years. She holds a BA in Communications Arts and Education from Oklahoma's, Oral Roberts University, an MA in Theatre form Villanova University and has a PA teaching certification in Speech and Drama. Lori began her theatre career at Upper Darby Summer Stage. She directed, taught, performed there and this summer company produced her children's play "Tall Tale Adventure". She serves on the literary committee of the Philadelphia Young Playwrights Festival and is Artistic Director and Board Member of Act One! School for the Performing Arts. Some of her favorite theatre work allowed her to live everywhere from Amsterdam, The Netherlands to Dallas, Texas. She has most recently taught Upper School theatre and Speech at the Baldwin School. However, Lori is not a newcomer to Middle School with her four years at Delaware County Christian School and her at home practice with her 13 year old son, Peter and her 11 year old son, Luke.

Steve Stephenson
Managing Director of Centennial Hall

Steve has worked in professional theatre for over thirty years as a stage manager, production manager, designer, and director. He is a member of Actors' Equity Association and the American Guild of Musical Artists. He has been working for The Haverford School since 1987. He has also worked for The Playhouse Theatre in Wilmington, DE, The Philadelphia Theatre Company, Indiana Repertory Theatre, the Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts at the University of Pennsylvania, the Pennsylvania Ballet, American Theater Arts for Youth, Philadelphia Playhouse In the Park, and LaSalle Music Theatre. He has also worked on productions with Kevin Bacon, Tom Hulce, Richard Thomas, Shelley Winters, Hume Cronyn, Jessica Tandy, Sam Waterston, Liv Ullman, Morris Carnovsky, Ken Howard, Melanie Mayron, Judy Collins, The Artist formerly known as Prince, Barbara Hendricks, Benita Valente, Cleo Laine, Michael Finestein, and Bobby Short, among many others. He takes great pride in helping students from The Haverford School pursue further education and careers in the arts after they leave our performing arts programs.

Paul Hewitt
Asst. Managing Director of Centennial Hall

Paul Hewitt has been the Assistant Managing Director of Centennial Hall since 1994. He has also been the Assistant Stage Manager for the Pennsylvania Ballet since 1991. Prior to coming to Haverford, Paul was the Technical Director at the Cheltenham Center for the Arts' Bernard H. Berger Theater. He has also served as Technical Director for the Philadelphia Theater Company and Inter-Act Theater Company, as well as for Temple, Curtis and Sylvan Opera Companies. Paul spent nine years as a scenic carpenter with S. M. R. D. Theatricals, one of Philadelphia's leading scene shops, and through them, his work was seen on most of the stages in the Philadelphia area and many others nationwide. Paul has worked as a Motion Picture Studio Mechanic on the feature films "Two Bits" and "The Sixth Sense," the CBS television series "Hack" and a number of commercials and videos shot in and around Philadelphia.
